Beginner Guide - How to Emboss Sentiments

beginner lesson on embossing sentiments

An embossed sentiment is sometimes all that you need to make a handmade card stand out. In this tutorial, we share a technique to free up time and the pressure of embossing perfection. Embossing several sentiments at once helps you pick the best fine line results and creates a larger variety of sentiments to choose from.

Handmade wedding thank you note featuring gold embossing.

Embossed Wedding Thank You Notes

For this easy DIY project, I show you how to create simple, elegant wedding Thank You notes. It's always important to thank your guests and making your own beautiful thank you notes adds an extra special touch. You don't need a lot of expensive products, and this tutorial takes no time! You can also customize these notes based on your own taste and style.

Handmade card featuring a blendedf background and delicate white stamping.

Stamping over blending with StazOn Pigment

For this card I have created a peacock inspired color blended background. I have used Versafine Clair Inks and Jumbo daubers which make blending super easy and seamless. Once the background was ready I used a beautiful lacy rubber stamp and StazOn Pigment Ink in white to stamp the image. This delicate image is crisp and beautiful and is perfect stamped in this ink. To finish the card I used a die cut and a sentiment. I also added gorgeous sparkle using Sheer Shimmer Stix.

Handmade gift tag featuring a dragonfly and flowers in Rose Gold color.

Rose Gold Dragonfly and Floral Gift Tag

I have limited space for craft supplies and am always looking for ways to get multiple uses out of a single supply. One way to accomplish this, for example, is to keep a stash of white paper flowers in different sizes and color them to match your project.  This way, you don’t have to make room for multiple packages of pre-colored flowers. See how I create a Rose Gold Dragonfly theme gift tag using several of Imagine's and Tsukineko's inks.

Two handmade Thank You cards made with the same inks but in alternating orders for two different looks.

Coral and Purple Thank You Cards

I couldn't resist using this gorgeous Radiant Neon ink in Neon Coral!! It is really stunning. I wanted a bold contrasting color to pair it with, so I chose the VersaFine Clair in Fantasia. They are a match made in heaven! I absolutely love the way the colors play off of each other. They are both strong, bold colors on their own and yet they work fabulously together!

I made both of these Thank You cards at the same time and they were completed quickly. Sometimes it's nice to have a simple, yet beautiful thank you card ready to give at a moments notice.

Handmade card featuring layered stamped butterflies that are arranged to create a pop up element inside the greeting card.

Colorful Pop-up Butterflies Card

Tsukineko inks are perfect for stamp layering! In today's video, I'm sharing how you can layer VersaMagic and VersaFine Clair inks to create these simple yet gorgeous butterflies, and adhere them together to make a string of pop-up surprise.

Create an Ombre Background Using VersaFine Clair and Vellum Flowers

For this card I heat embossed a few flower images with white embossing powder on vellum. I used my sharp pair of scissors to fussy cut them. To create the background I have used Versafine Clair inks which are very highly pigmented and also blend beautifully with each other. I used a jumbo dauber to add the colors. The sunset ombre looks so beautiful and then arranged the flowers on the card. To finish the card I added few splatters of the shimmer spray and a sentiment.

Beautiful brown hues on a homemade card acheived by watercoloring with Walnut Ink Crystals.

Walnut Ink Crystal Florals

I stamped a beautiful flower bunch from Simon Says Stamp with Brilliance Ink on a watercolor paper. I added some water on a small scoop of Walnut Crystals and painted the entire bunch with it. This is a monotonic theme card and I have used only one pigment to create all the highlights and shadows. I stamped a simple sentiment with Pinecone Versafine Clair ink and the painted panel is ready.

Quick and Simple Thank You Cards

Writing a thank-you card is becoming a lost art. This year, show those who chose to gift you with their time, attention, or gifts a sweet and simple thank-you by penning a quick note inside an even quicker-to-make card. They’re so quick to make, in fact, that it’s best to go ahead and make a bunch at the same time and then you’ll be set for whenever you need them! And if you’re thank-you writing skills or a bit rusty, I’ve got three things to include in a good thank-you card right inside the video!
