New Year's for me is when you start a new year of life, a new opportunity, a new calendar or simply when you want to celebrate something new. Today I created a special card for our New Year's Inspiration Challenge. It is a birthday card to celebrate a new year of life and on this card I am using fun techniques to create backgrounds, coloring stamped images and create textures over different materials. Come and enjoy with me!
I used several techniques and many fun products to create this sweet elephant card. Let me show you how.
With the New Year just around the corner we are ringing it in with some glitz and glamour with a fun resolutions file folder. I used Delicata ink to dress up this file folder for a fuin and festive look. This year I will pen down my hopes and dreams and blessings, so that I can reflect on them at the end of 2016 and feel really really blessed!
When it comes to art- what brings you motivation for 2016? For me it is creating more art in the new year. This journal page has several three dimensional elements created out of paper and ink.
Everybody loves Christmas cookies! With Christmas right around the corner, I love to have several decorated kraft bags at hand to give my homemade cookies to family, friends or teachers. A pretty packaging makes the cookies taste even more delicious, doesn’t it?
Despite winter’s chill, there are two things warming my heart these days: Christmas fun and the upcoming SciFi goodness of both Star Wars and Star Trek. Since I have quite a few fellow geeks on my Christmas list, I thought--why not combine the two? After all, what’s colder than space? This card is also perfect for any long-distance holiday greeting, space-fan or not.
With the winter holidays coming soon [Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa] I decided to start with the first of three, Hanukkah, known as the ‘festival of lights.’ Here’s the card and ‘how to’ tutorial…enjoy!
I love the scent of gingerbread baking on a cold, frosty day, so I wanted to evoke that feeling in an art piece. I also think that red and green are kind of overdone during the holidays so in keeping with the gingerbread idea, I decided to stick with that color scheme too.
One of my favorite holiday traditions is the choosing of the Christmas tree! We could take the easy route and go to a lot and select a pre-cut tree but it so much more fun to traipse around acres of trees and find the “perfect” tree. Well, I think so anyway, don’t ask my husband.
